Personality:
Garret is about 6 feet tall, and weighs around 180. He has a muscular build from training in martial arts, but not so much that it hinders him. He has green eyes, shoulder length brown hair, and almost always has a smile on his face. His style of clothing is always very simple, usually being jeans, a button up t-shirt, with a tank top underneath. During the day, he'll have his shirt buttoned up if at school or work, but after wards, he tends to keep it unbuttoned and free flowing.
Garret is a kind hearted individual, always being very generous and willing to help out as often as he can. He does tend to have a sarcastic humor, which sometimes gets him into trouble when he doesn't realize it. He enjoys to socialize, and likes to have fun in groups. Overall, if he's in a good mood, he's having fun. However, he also enjoys solitude as it allows him to relax himself and clear his mind which tends to get overloaded often, causing him to panic sometimes. Because of trying to help as much as he can, his thoughts tend to become overloaded very easily.History:
Garret doesn't grow quick to anger. Though he may get stressed from time to time, he doesn't let an attitude out towards anyone in a negative way. If he happens to become angry, it is usually due to someone else's harsh behavior. He hates it when someone gets attacked when they don't deserve it, or if the fight is considerably unfair. He doesn't try to fight often, as he prefers to solve conflict with diplomacy, being as smart as he can often be, but if diplomacy has no effect, he'll fight, and not give in, win or lose.
Garret was born in Seattle, WA and grew up there his whole life. He has lived with his parents, Evelyn and Marcus, for his entire life, as they themselves have been married since a few years before he was born. Unknown to his father, his mother and the rest of her heritage have had the ability to communicate with spirits and around every 10th generation, a child was able to manifest an ability to make contact with the spiritual world itself. After realizing that it had been some time since the last relative in her family to have an ability, Garret's mother decided to keep him away as much as she could from that life, as she wanted him to have a normal life. And for the most part, he did lead a normal life. He started training in martial arts at the age of 5, and took to it well. In school he was always smart, and ended up tutoring most other students as well. When he was 10, his parents gave birth a little girl, Ashley, making him an older brother. However, it was also about the same time that his spiritual abilities started to manifest.Offense: Intermediate
At first he started seeing spirits, but wasn't able to hear them. When he was 12, he finally started to hear them, and was able to communicate with them. Every time he brought this up to his parents, his mom disregarded it right away, and was told by his father that Garret needed to slow down, and not get himself worked up. Then he wouldn't see things any more. He eventually stopped telling his parents, so that they wouldn't think he was crazy. About the age of 15, his arm would start to burn and pulsate, but no one else could see it. He thought that he'd see some sort of mark on his skin, but it'd disappear as soon as it came. He eventually found out the hard way that he wasn't alone though, as his sister, Ashley, had come to talk about the things she was seeing at the age of 5. She didn't tell their parents, after seeing the many conversations Garret had with them. But Garret now had someone to confide with in his strange happenings.
A year later, Garret's power first manifested for the first time when he was walking with his girlfriend at the time and noticed a kid being chased by a hollow, and didn't know what was happening. He chased after them, creating an excuse for his girlfriend and then tried defending the boy, and after almost being killed by the hollow, manifested his power as he killed the hollow. From then on, he began to notice the hollows, and learned how to fight them. It was tough at first, but he eventually got the hang of it, to include fixing himself up from the wounds he'd receive. After he graduated high school, he decided to study abroad and go to Japan to do so. He's only recently gotten to Japan, and is living in Karakura Town now going to college and making a small living.

Spiritual Awareness:
His family has a bloodline that produces generations that may manifest offensive or defensive abilities. He first started seeing spirits at 10, could hear them at 12 and interact with them. When he was 16, his ability first manifested in a fight against a hollow trying to save a spirit.Base Powers:
Garret's right forearm becomes covered in a hard, leathery type substance, that fits him like a glove. It has a white base, but is covered in blue and gold patterning. From the wrist though is a blade, in the form of a straight katana, only 30 in long though. The sharpness of the blade is determined by Garret's focused reiatsu, but with his current level, it will always be able to make non lethal wounds, unless piercing straight through a hollow's mask, which should be able to defeat one, unless it's more powerful than thought. However, Garret has no idea on how to focus his reiatsu, and therefore doesn't know this. This 'armor' only covers his forearm, and unless it's being sliced by a bladed edge, softens majority of forceful blows, like a mid level kido blast or being hit by debris, protecting his arm.Spiritual Powers, First Stage:

It was a warm and pleasant late summer night. Not much that could go wrong on a night like this. Garret was in a pretty good mood, after all he had just spent the majority of the afternoon with his girlfriend Taylor. He didn't expect it to last this long, after all they had just started dating when the summer started. He was glad that it lasted this long though, it wasn't often his relationships did. Walking through the neighborhood with her, he put his arm around her as she wrapped herself around him. Having her by his side gave him the feeling that nothing was wrong in the world. Taylor put her head on his shoulder and looked up at him. ”What's wrong Garret? You seem like you got something on your mind now...” He stopped walking and held her in front of him as he stared back at her with a smile. ”You know me. When do I not have something on my mind. But you're what's on it right now.” ”Really?” ”Really!” She smiled and leaned up to give him a quick kiss and they started walking again.
Even though she was on his mind, Garret's thoughts were more toward what was happening. His arm was beginning to burn more and more often. He couldn't figure out why, but he knew it had something to do with the spirits. The more he came into contact with, the more it would pulsate and burn. He still couldn't figure out why he had started to see images on his arm either. Nobody else could see it, and he knew he couldn't tell anyone else about it. They'd only think he was crazy, especially his parents. And he didn't need that. The only one that believed him was his little sister, and he knew she was right because she saw everything he did, minus the images on his arm. But for now, he just had to concentrate on the moment on hand, which was his girlfriend.
Taylor started talking about things that were happening socially, which often threw Garret off, but he did his best paying attention. However, something else took his attention. A little bit ahead of him, he saw the spirit of a little boy run across the street with total and complete fear in his eyes. A moment later, a giant creature popped out into the street chasing after the boy. Garret had never seen anything like it. It was big, and looked like an ant, but had scythe like arms like a praying mantis. But the oddest part about it was it's face. It had a white mask with a few green patterns on it. His eyes got wide as he realized that he had to help the boy. He didn't know why, he just had to. ”Uh, hey, baby... I just realized something that I need to take care at home or else I'm gonna get in trouble... I'll give you a call later tonight?” and gave her a hug and kiss then took off running after the two spirits. Taylor stood there, confused as to what just happened. ”Okay... Sounds good I guess?” as she watched him turn a corner.
Garret knew his way around this path, it was a short cut he used often from his house around the neighborhood. Following the spirits as best he could, he eventually met up with them in a small clearing. Seeing the creature approach the boy and the boy on the ground in fear, he knew he had to act fast. He just didn't know how. He looked on the ground and found a piece of branch and picked it up. 'I'm gonna regret this... “HEY! MISTER ANT-MANTIS GUY! LEAVE THE KID ALONE!” The creature turned around stared at him. ”Hmm... You seem like an interesting human... You can see the little twerp and me? I'm impressed. Too bad I'm gonna have you for dinner instead!” as it started laughing. Garret gripped the branch tight and prepared for the creature as it charged him. As it came towards him, he swung at it, but didn't hit it as the creature hit him instead as Garret flew back and hit a tree. Garret got back up on his feet and went to attack it and punched it in the side while it was laughing. Noticing it's skin was hard, his arm started burning intensely, the most it had ever burned. Holding his arm as he yelled in pain, the creature hit him again with the back end of it's claw and sent Garret towards a tree again.
Garret hit the tree hard this time, as he heard a crack. He didn't know what went crack, but at this point he didn't know what to think as it came closer, approaching him. 'What am I doing here? Why did I come? All I wanted to do is help the little boy, but I don't even know why I did that! And now here I am, on my hands and knees about to die... NO! I can't die! I can't let Taylor down, my friends, my parents, Ashley... I can't die just yet! I can't die, I can't die, I CAN'T DIE!!!' In a blinding light from his right forearm, a white glove appeared, and as it covered his arm, blue and gold patterning started to form on it. Garret go to his feet as the creature approached him, he kept his head down as it swung down at him. Catching the claw with his hand, he said slowly as he began to raise his head up. ”I don't know what this thing on my arm is. It used to burn like hell, but now I know why...” Astonished, the creature looked at him confused. ”Huh? What is the meaning of this? You're just a human! Only shinigami are supposed to have power!” Garret grabbed a firm hold of the claw and with an unknown strength he had never felt before, ripped the entire clawed arm off the creature, and then performed a spinning jump kick to it's mask, knocking the creature back. ”GAH!!! WHAT THE HELL! YOU'RE A HUMAN! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE POWERS! WHATEVER YOU ARE, I'M GOING TO EAT YOU REGARDLESS!!!” as it charged Garret. Garret took a stance, preparing to punch the creature directly in the face, looked at it and replied back. ”I don't know what a shinigami is. I don't know what this glove is. And I don't know what's wrong with me. I do know that this boy you're trying to kill should have the right to make his own afterlife peaceful. I do know that I gotta live to figure all this out. And most importantly, I know for fact that YOU NEED TO DIE!!!” and as Garret punched the thing in the face, he felt a new sensation from his arm as he watched the creature's mask crack, then the whole thing dissolve as he noticed the blade from his arm. He looked at it and smiled, and then blacked out.
