Shinji has straight blond hair at his jaw level and a smile that reveals all his teeth at once like Cheshire Cat. Actually, he shows all his teeth without even smiling; that is a part of pretty much all his facial expressions. He also has his tongue pierced by a round ring.Personality:
He's a slim and young looking guy, who prefers to wear a standard Karakura school uniform. But he usually wears a gray long coat, dress shirt, neck tie and a newsboy cap.
Shinji is a guy who is rather a bit comical, which makes him difficult to look serious at all. He is a pretty laid back guy, who has a lazy attitude all the time.History:
He has this weird pleasure of annoying another Vizard, Hiyori Sarugaki; usually getting very immature leveled fights with her, such as making silly faces or quick insults. In the end, he usually gets smacked by one of her sandals or have a punch in the face. It's obvious Shinji lets Hiyori abuse him. He also appears to refer all the cute girls he meets as his first love, which is obviously not true. (It's also noted he never did this to Hiyori.)
He enjoys listening to jazz music, collecting old records.
Shinji is also a very pereceptive in terms of regarding other people. During his time as a captain, he was one of the very few people who was suspicious his vice; Aizen Sousuke. He was able to see through his illusions. Aizen even admitted being somewhat intimated by him.
During battles and all the other times, Shinji always remains fairly calm, serious and level-headed.
100 hundred years before, Shinji Hirako served as the captain of the 5th division. In this time a younger and seemingly innocent Aizen serves as his lieutenant. Though he is a captain Shinji would often show behaviour that is childish and immature for a man of his age and ranking. This is especially seen during his confrontations with the 12th division lieutenant Hiyori Sarugaki. Shinji often being attacked by her in random and humerous situations, and though his own lieutenant believes his captain shold be more responsible he never is. Though Aizen was his subbordinate. Shinji did not like, nor did he trust Aizen. He was not fooled by his seemingly innocent facade, and knew there was more to Aizen than meets the eye. At this time Shinji would also build somewhat of friendship with Kisuke Urahara who had just been promoted. At times giving advice that showed the wisdom worthy of a captain.Offense: Advanced
It was during this time, that Aizen first began experimenting with hollowfication. Which led to a number of mysterious dissapearances around soul society. Though Aizen would never be caught for the act until 100 years later. These mysterious dissapearances were being investigated by the 9th division including future vizads. Kensei Muguruma and Mashiro Kuna. Whom were the captain and liuetanant of the 9th division at the time. It was later learned that the 9th division themselves had mysteriously dissapeared. The act forced Yamamoto to act quickly and efficently and so he decided to send out a group to investigate. Shinji was one of those along with the captains and lieutanants who would become the vizards. Shinji arrives just in time to save Hiyori. But immideatetly is forced into battle with the others against Kensei and Mashiro who have just become hollows. The fight is incredibly tough. Especially against a friend but eventually Kensei is subdued. Though it seems everything was ok. Hiyori transformed and attacked Shinji. Before the others could react they were attacked by Kaname Tosen, who was revealed to have betrayed Kensei.
It was then that Aizen appaeared along with Ichimaru Gin, and finally revealed himself to his captain as the mastermind behind all the dissapearances and experiments. Though Shinji himself had always suspected Aizen. Though it was right and smart of Shinji to choose Aizen and keep him under watch, he made some fatal errors which allowed Aizen to deceive Shinji. Not once did he attempt to get close to his lieutanant, so he did not get to know the man and his characteristics. It was because of this that Shinji had failed to realize that following for the past month was someone else. Agitated and angry at Aizen, Shinji undergoes his own hollow transformation. Aizen then decides to attack and kill Shinji but he is saved with the sudden appearance of Kisuke and Tessai who fend Aizen and his subbordinates away. Sinji along with he others try to have the process reversed but the damage is set. So instead Kisuke gives them all untraceabel gigai. So they can hide in the human world, as staying in Soul Society would have led to their execution.
Shinji Hirako first appeared when Ichigo returned home from Soul Society. He came to persuade Ichigo to join the Vizard, but Ichigo turned him down. Later Ichigo came back and asked him to train him. To accomplish this task, Shinji knocks Ichigo unconscious so he can face his inner hollow out to battle on common ground. After awakening his powers Ichigo left, because the Arrancar were attacking Karakura Town. Ichigo was about to be defeated by Grimmjow until Shinji came and saved Ichigo. Shinji was almost about to finish him, but Ulquiorra Schiffer stopped their fight and told Grimjow to return to Heuco Mondo.
When things look grim for the shinigami, Shinji arrives with the Vizards to save the day. While his allies are busy saving Toshiro, Soifon and others. Shinji briefly chats with captain Yamamoto before turning his full attention to Aizen. Before leaving Shinji reveals caring only to help Ichigo and not the Shinigami. Shinji goes to cut Aizen down but Tosen intervenes. The two spare for a moment when Komamura steps in. Komamura takes it upon himself to ally the shinigami with the vizards.

Shinji's Hollow mask strongly resembles a pharaoh's mask; with a short flowing hood hanging down the back of his neck. When donning his Hollow mask, Shinji's sclera turn completely black and his irises become grey.Hollow Powers:
- Power Augmentation: While wearing the mask, Shinji's Hollow powers supplement his Shinigami powers, giving him a vast increase in both strength and speed.Release Phrase: Collapse (taorero)
- Cero: Shinji gathers energy that is displayed in a horizontal line at his fist. He then releases a crimson Cero with an extremely wide arc and devastating force. The power of the Cero from a distance is powerful enough to cause grievous injury to an Espada of at least rank six, even at minimal power.
Shikai Appearance:
In its Shikai, the pommel becomes a large ring that Shinji uses to spin his sword; which may be related to his Shikai Special Ability. The first few inches of the blade are covered by an extension of the hand guard. Sakanade's blade is straight and slim with the tip ending in a slanted razor-like edge instead of being tapered to a point. There are five holes along the swords length.Shikai Abilities:
Inverted World: Sakanade's Shikai ability creates an inverted world. The power is an optical illusion which is caused by the scent the sword gives off upon it's release. It inverts an opponent's sense of direction. Shinji describes the release technique as something like a trump card. Up and down, left and right as well as forward and backward are opposite. It is not just the sense of direction that is changed; the opponent's eyesight and where they get cut is reversed as well. Shinji claims that countering the damage from the inverted directions simply by processing it all within the mind is not possible. No matter how powerful the opponent even if one is accustomed to fighting in that particular way, their body will not adapt and will continue to fight by reflex, which causes it to continuously succumb to the power's effect. The effect of the inverted world can be targeted at a specific opponent, making it ideal for use in group fighting.Bankai Appearance:

The sun was a bit too annoying in the afternoon sky, making him feel lazy... Lazier than usual. Summers in Karakura Town wasn't that bothersome, though. They had some interesting stuff here, like that ice-cream shop in the corner. They had the most delicious flavours, it made him hunger for some now.
Hands deeply buried in pockets, the blond guy in school uniform and a cap walked down the street in a slow pace. The upper half of his body was slightly bent forward, his shoulders were almost hanging from his sides like he was too exhausted. But he really wasn't. It was only the over heat. No matter how many years he lived here on Earth, he just couldn't get used to it.
The edges of his lips were pointing down now in an unhappy way, it almost looked like an upside down version of Cheshire cat smile. His eyes were lazily looked over the ice-cream choices he had. Just picking out randomly the vanilla flavour, Shinji pulled out his wallet from his pocket; poking inside for some money.
After he was out of the shop and walking without any destination through the streets, even his eyes looked bored... Until he saw a few pretty girls coming across. His shoulders looked a bit more broader now, his posture straight. A lick from the ice-cream and his thin lips were curving upward in a teeth revealing smile of his. As the girls passed by with looks and a giggle, Shinji noticed a short blong girl standing ahead, blocking his way. She had twin pigtails and a red jump-suit. Her arms were crossed over her chest, her angry brown eyes were looking up at him.
”Hiyori.” His previously amused expression was now turned to something unimpressed, the vizard brought the ice-cream against his lips to have another lick. But the girl kept with her frustrated gaze, she almost looked like close to explode.
“Whaddaya think you're doing, you d*ckhead?” The girl spoke in between gritted teeth, her face turning red bit by bit.
”None of yer business, stupid.” Shinji replied, his eyes half-lidded.
“I saw you checking out those girls, you sick pervert!” Hiyori's hands were now hanging at her sides, fists clenched with pure madness.
”An' why do ya care about my first love, stupid?” Shinji's tongue lapped at the cold treat, the round shaped piercing was revealed. This conversation wasn't going anywhere.
“You call everyone the same, stupid! And stop saying stupid, you d*ckhead!” Hiyori was now shaking her index finger threateningly at the taller vizard, almost poking his eye out; her voice was coming out louder and louder with each word.
Shinji only gave out a bored sigh, shrugging his shoulders. ”I never called ya my first lo-” And he could never finish his sentence, since he received a hard sandal against his face. The ice-cream fell down from his hands, now being splattered all over the ground. But the fight was just beginning and it didn't involve swords or brilliant techniques.
