Information
Full Name: Kaya Atsuki
Birthday: July 14th, 1992
Title(s): Quincy Elite
Index
Appearance: Kaya has dark brown hair almost like a deep mahogany. When she lets it go, it goes down to her shoulder blades. Her hair is naturally wavy, though she doesn't let it show as such. Instead she chooses to normally keep it up with a black hair tie. She has a rather small forehead when compared to others, although that was a rather good thing. She loves that her forehead isn't huge like a lot of others that she knew. Her eyebrows had a nice arch to them, and were the perfect amount of hairy. They were neither too thick nor too thin.
Her eyes were free of crows feet, thankfully, and silky smooth like the rest of her body. Probably the byproduct of her using lotion to wash her hand instead of water. Her eyes are a gorgeous emerald, even appearing as if they were shining in the sunlight. She has a smaller nose, thankfully, not being large or wide. Her cheekbones aren't high, but she likes them better like that. They compliment her natural blush that highlights her face. She isn't pasty, but she has more of a creamy complexion.
She has a well rounded chin, and a weak jawline. She has a strong set of shoulders, but lacks any real visible muscle. She packs a sizable bust with her bra size being DD. Though she has anything but a large butt, most making fun of her flatness in high school. Armed with strong calf muscles, she has nice sized legs.
Her usual attire takes the form of a light blue formfitting shirt, with sleeves ending around the middle of her arm. With that she wears a black belt and tan assault pants. She finishes off her ensemble with black combat boots that come up four inches above her ankle. Topping her whole outfit off is her Quincy Cross around her wrist.
- Hair Color: Brown
- Eye Color: Blue
- Height: 5"1'
- Weight: 120 lbs.
- Ethnicity: Causcasian
- Build: Slim
Personality: Normally Kaya is a kind and benevolent souls. She likes to help others that are in need, or simply out of the kindness in her heart. She enjoys seeing the satisfied smiles on others faces as she helped them, or did something for them. It's just simply her passion to be a Robin Hood, helping the weak and defenseless while attacking the rich and evil.
That being said, she is by no means a pushover. She has a backbone, possibly too much of one. She will stand up for what she believes in to the full extent of her beliefs, even if the odds are stacked against her. The same would occur if someone attempted to push he around, or bully her. She won't stand for it, and she will not simply lie down and feel like the victim. She'll fight back, even if she knows she has no possible chance to win. Though she isn't an idiot and she will realize when some fights just aren't worth even considering engaging in.
Kaya is extremely intelligent when it comes to book smarts. She is able to grasp a concept pretty easily, and then actually work with it. On top of that she also has a photographic memory, which helped during her times of school and testing. Though that's not saying much about her common sense. Sometimes she has a tendency to "act blonde", and will not completely get something said to her within a few moments. She might actually have to sit there for a few seconds and let it really sink in and register with her. That mixes with her complete and total lack of figurative street smarts. She doesn't really associate with gangs, drugs, etc. and instead chooses to look down on people like that. Though her literal street smarts are fantastic, as she has a wide knowledge of her home terrain.
One of her biggest weak points is her anger. She can withstand numerous jokes, among other prods. However, when she snaps it's usually pretty bad. Getting to her buttons isn't a difficult task, as long as you know what buttons to push. Sexism, her appearance, and her skills are those three points. Hitting on those will effectively enrage her, to the point of her blindly attacking. Though the window to take advantage is not too wide, as she is quick to regain her composure.
The second of her largest weak points, briefly touched upon, is her Pride. She carries the typical Quincy pride instilled in her by her parents. She is exceedingly proud to be a Quincy, and just spiritually aware in general. As such she places her pride in her practiced techniques, movements, and anything related to a Quincy. Insulting one of those is like insulting her, something that she will not stand for.
The last, and possibly the largest, is her insecurities & romantics. She is extremely, extremely insecure about her appearance. She gives off that, "I really don't care," attitude to others when they say something about her outward appearance but that is far from the truth. Being that she suffered from Bulimia Nervosa during her teen years, comments like that really affect her psyche and plunges her into depression. Thankfully they usually aren't brought out into fights, else she'd be too distracted to perform as well as she normally would have. The second part of her largest weakness, is the romantic side of her. All she truly wants is someone to love her, comfort her, and understand her. Anyone who understands that side of her can use it to manipulate her and play serious head games.
Due to the Quincy massacre she has a deep hatred for Shinigami. Not to the point of wanting them all dead, nor going out of her way to kill them, but she will not hesitate to fight one if confronted. Her hatred of Hollows is less, but she still realizes that it's her job. Hatred or not, she was created to destroy the hollow and protect the humans. Nothing more, nothing less. And as such she enjoys training whether it be by herself or with a partner. She enjoys the experience of learning new moves, or techniques, and practicing them until she's sure she has it down pact.
History: The war was a bloody one, even for her family. Her great grandparents were casualties of the war, and her grandparents as well. Her parents, distraught, had made sure to not use their powers freely. Being pure blooded Quincy, there was no way the she would turn out anything but super. They knew that their child would be one of them, but the question was whether or not they'd allow her to learn about her powers. Her mother desperately fought for her to stay in the dark about everything, for fear that she'd be killed by the lethal shinigami. Her father's opinion, the winning one, was that if they didn't inform her of her powers then she might be killed rather easily and it would be an anvil upon their consciences.
So it was decided that when she was of age, 10, then they should begin her Quincy training. Her father would take over in dealing with her marksmanship, and her hand-to-hand combat. Her mother would take over when it came to training her Ginto and Quincy techniques. Until then they would envelop with love and kindness, without even attempting to hint at her approaching life.
Around the age of 5 she began to see spirits, though she didn't do much about it. She was a carefree kid, flitting around from one place to the next. Many thought she had ADD, or maybe ADHD but when she was tested she came back negative. The kid just loved to live her life, and have fun. She always found ways to make lemons into lemonade, even with the worst of circumstances. By that I mean, if all of her barbie dolls went missing she'd make due with some twigs.
At the age of 8, she had befriended a spirit because she had truly and honestly believed she was a real person. They were the best of friends, and were inseparable.
"Hey, you're my bestest bestest friend everrrrr!" Kimi whispered loudly to her, at night.
Kaya grinned and giggled, "And you're mine, too!" and she truly meant it.
The next weeks were pretty repetitive with them going to have fun, and then coming home and preparing for bed. Home schooling wasn't that difficult, and her parents, due to their lack of using any of their powers, could barely tell that Kimi wasn't real either.
Though that wasn't something that was going to last very long. July 7th, 1998 would be her 10th Birthday. Her parents had brought up all of their Quincy journals, books, and equipment. They were readying themselves for dropping their bombshell secret on their daughter. She was outside playing with Kimi, when suddenly the clouds turned black. Looking up, she noticed that it wasn't truly the clouds.
A sickening roar bellowed from the 'cloud' and both of the girls ran. Kimi, however, was not as fortunate as Kaya and was snatched up by the ape looking beast. Shrieking at the top of her lungs, she ran into her house just a block away.
"Mommy, Daddy! The bad thing has Kimi, you have to help!" she pleaded with them desperately.
"Calm down, baby, tell me what happened," her mother tried her best to soothe her while her father had ventured outside to see if she was losing her mind, or something of the sorts.
"Holy shit..."
"Hurry! She's getting hurt!" her father and her said simultaneously.
Her mother, now slightly alarmed, ran to see what had shocked her husband. Her mouth was arched in a wide 'O', and they stood there paralyzed. It was the final shriek of their panicked daughter that sent them into motion. They ran to some dusty boxes in the kitchen, ripping out two pendants. Her mother had materialized a bow, while her father had formed a dagger like blade. Unfortunately, due to their surprise, the hollow had already managed to swallow the screaming Kimi.
But that wasn't their priority, it was their daughter. Her mother was the intellect, she distracted him by shooting multiple arrows at its legs and arms. Distracted, her father snuck behind it before disappearing and reappearing on top of the beast. He ripped through it, until it was bisected. Taking a deep breathe, they both threw themselves on the ground. It was exhausting for them to use their powers after retiring for so long.
That wasn't the hard part, however, that was reserved for how they would explain everything to her. After watching the hollow get killed by her parents, she ran into her room and locked the door. Set in a fetal position in the corner, she didn't move for the rest of the day. When night came around she spent all morning staring at her door. Meanwhile her parents were ready to ram down her door, before she came striding out. She wasn't trustful, but she was confused. And the only people that could give her anything even close to an answer, were her parents.
"Honey, I know you're confused but-" she began speaking at the table they all sat at, and reached over to touch her arm but her daughter reeled back in absolute terror.
All she could see in her mind was the dangerous and violent people who had killed the black beast. It didn't even register to her, yet, that her best friend had just died and was avenged by the same people that she currently feared.
"I know you're scared, but you have to hear us out. Understand?" he asked, but it wasn't really a question.
It was a command.
She nodded at him, subdued by his tone. They began to delve into her past, with her mother starting.
"The three of us, we are Quincy. Long ago our ancestors learned of special weapons they could create to help fight monsters like you just saw. Eventually, we became guardians. Protecting the humans, and destroying the hollow. But..."
She nodded slowly at her mother. Her imagination was amazing, but even she was a bit skeptical. Well, as skeptical as a 10 year old could really be.
"...the Shinigami didn't see us as such. They accused us of messing up the balance of souls, and so they initiated a mass genocide upon our people. Our parents were casualties, and so we wanted to protect you from the horrors of that life..."
"...until we decided that you were ready to hear everything. To adopt our name, and take up arms against the hollow and maybe even the Shinigami. Now, your training starts. Unless you decide that you don't want to be a Quincy..."
"The choice has always been yours, our decision was simply whether or not we'd teach you assuming you said yes." her father finished.
Their whole speech was rather fluent, put together, almost rehearsed. Where one left off, the other began almost immediately. It was as if they already knew when they'd stop, and when they'd need to begin without missing a beat. But that wasn't the problem at hand. The problem at hand was her taking in everything that her parents had just informed her off on top of deciding on the spot if she would become a Quincy and train.
Her head was spinning, she was feeling kind of woozy. But then a warmth spread through her, it felt invigorating. The choice was clear to her, after the warmth subsided, she had already known her answer since before she even deliberated.
"Yes." her answer was terse, full of so many questions that she couldn't even manage to voice.
But the worst was over now, she had made the decision. Her parents nodded at her, and took out a box. It was a gorgeous sea green color, with a white-lace bow wrapped around it. They handed it to her and, after she had finished gawking at it, she slowly took it from them with shaky hands. Untying the knot and opening the box, a silver pendant was revealed. It was absolutely magnificent, and she slowly took it out of the box. The chain wasn't too long, so she immediately know that it wouldn't be fitting around her neck.
Looking up at her parents, her mother got up and wrapped the chain elegantly around her wrist. The actual cross would dangle just a few inches below her wrist. She grinned, mostly to herself, as she stared at the beautiful treasure. They allowed her to return to her room and absorb everything they had doused her with.
The next day was the beginning of her 8 year training regime. The first four years of training were solely with her father. Her mother served as a co-coach and threw some additional tips and comments when she felt it was necessary. Aside from that her father was her true and sole teacher. They had started off simple enough, and that was her reishi training. She couldn't form a bow if she didn't learn how to manipulate the reishi around her. Within a month she had the concept down, and was ready to move on to materializing her bow. It only took her a week to create one, but to sustain one for a long period of time took her two months.
Gathering reishi from her surroundings, she focused them into her Quincy Cross. The bow formed and dispersed as quickly as it had appeared. She cursed loudly and stomped her foot on the ground.
"Losing your cool is something that should never be done on a battlefield. That leads to incorrect decisions which then leads to death. Calm yourself, now." he barked at her, teacher mode on and in full blast.
She grimaced but nonetheless she still took a deep breathe. In through her nose, out through her mouth. Repeating that cycle for just about five more times, she was balanced again. Gathering the reishi, she again focused it into her cross. This time the bow formed, and stood in place. It didn't fade, or disperse, or even explode. She wanted to grin, but she knew that losing her concentration could potentially be dangerous so all the smiles were gone. She then looked up to her father, waiting for some sort of instruction.
He nodded at her with his form of approval, "Good, now manipulate the reishi. Form an arrow, and then fire it like any other bow," he commanded and she obeyed.
She manipulated the reishi flawlessly, and formed the arrow. Pulling back the string, she released the arrow and it flew toward the tree. Until it wobbled and flew into the leaves of the tree in front of her. She sighed, the training just got a lot harder.
It was grueling, to her, as her parents were slightly harder on her than usual. Though it was only because they saw in her the true potential to be a great Quincy. After she had finished the basic Quincy necessities, they began on the true training.
He taught her how to aim and hit a target from far away, by moving, and while under attack. There were plenty of times when she got hurt during training, but she got past it and it greatly helped her endurance in the long run.
Running in a serpentine line, she could barely hear the arrows land behind her. She knew that if she actually looked back, she would get hit. Regulating her breathing while running, she did a barrel role and then shot back at her father. In the process she nearly got hit in the leg, but due to fancy footwork she got away. Taking cover behind a tree, she heard her dad mocking her in the sky.
"That's all it takes? A few arrows and the princess is ready to quit? How pathetic!" he spat, knowing fully well how to push her buttons.
She quickly fired at him, before using her immature Hirenkyaku. It did a well enough job, she ended up almost across from where she previously was. Not wasting any time on calculations, she fired multiple arrows at his back. His senses were more acute, though, and he turned back and cut down most of them. One lucky shot got in his leg, and she pulled back on her bow. Releasing the torrent of arrows, she effectively pinned him down. Disarming him by taking his Quincy Cross, she slapped him on the face.
"Now who's pathetic?" she bounded away, with her back turned to him, before she felt her core become rocked. Landing a few feet in front of her, she looked back to see her dad with his fist held out in front of him.
Working on her bow skills took two and a half years. But now, she was beyond that. She was ready to start the next step, close combat.
The next year and a half would be focused on her martial arts. Being that she had worked on her bow skills for so long, switching to having no weapon was extremely hard for her.
"Dodging is only going to get you so far," he punched through a tree that she aptly back flipped away from.
As he got in close, she kicked his knee before jumping on his knee and attempting to deliver a kick to the neck. It didn't work though, and he grabbed her leg and threw her into a tree. She had the wind knocked out of her, but she had to move. Clutching her stomach, her growing Hirenkyaku carried her away. She looked back in time to see the tree ruthlessly split in two. His Hirenkyaku rushed toward her, but she was ready.
Anticipating where he would land, she already swung her foot out. It caught him square in the stomach, but it lacked enough force to stun him. He quickly punched her knee, thigh, and then stomach. Ducking from a face punch, she headbutt his jaw. Reeling from pain, she swung a left at him that was blocked. Her right hand connected with his jaw, again, and so did the back flip kick she delivered to him.
He spit out blood and then smirked at her, "Alright. You pass, that's good enough...for now, he said, cocky over his judgment. He clearly knew she sucked, but that was as good as she was getting.
So in short she had passed, barely, in her fathers eyes in the art. Though she was skeptical that she'd be able to do anything with her close combat skills. Now 14 it was officially time for her mother to become her sole teacher, while her father headed for the sidelines.
The 4 years with her mother was a complete and total blur. It wasn't as tough as training with her dad, only because she understood Ginto and Quincy Techniques so much better. The problem was practicing them while not messing them up to the point of exploding in her face.
"Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice - Heizen!" she cried out, throwing ginto tubes that resulted in a large block being thrust toward her mother.
"A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed - Gritz!" she threw the Ginto tube in front of her, and she was then encased in a large metal container that blocked the Heizen from her daughter. Opening a hole in it, she began her counter attack just as quickly.
"Tilt the goblet to the west - Wolke!", "Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice - Heizen!" she called out the incantations for both of the Ginto techniques.
The explosion of reiryoku was sent traveling at her first, and she effectively dodged it. But the smoke cloud covered her vision, and the rectangular energy smashed into her back. Because not many tubes were used, it didn't kill her nor did it take any of her body. It was simply the equivalent of being hit with a large block of metal.
She got up and sighed, wishing she could go back to hand-to-hand combat with her father.
Training her Ginto was a truly entertaining time, that took up the better part of three years. Being that there were so few Quincy techniques to teach her, and even less that they actually knew of, so that didn't take as long.
Looking behind her, her mother was gone within a second. Looking up, there was nothing there to see. She closed her eyes and listened for where she would land. The key to this training session, she was told, was simply to find her mother, track her movements, and then incapacitate her.
Which was easier said then done, but Hirenkyaku was different from the other training exercise, because she had been exposed to it during her first training session. Ever since then she had been working with it, maturing it into what she had. Within seconds she had got behind her mother, and threw her on the ground. Unfortunately, her mother had cried out in pain when she landed wrong and dislocated her shoulder.
"No, it's ok. Now you will see something that you will need to learn one day...Ransotengai," threads began attaching themselves to her shoulder and she got up and nearly punched her in the face.
"But, how? Your shoulder?" the woman really did have every right to be confused.
Her mother softly laughed, "Ransotengai...a technique that manipulates reishi in the form of strings to connect to the brain and body. In short, no injury is a problem if you master it. You become a puppet under your own control, though, the damage won't go away. You'll simply be able fight past it, but not even I have mastered it," she said, as the strings dispersed and she fell on one knee.
And so she learned of all of the Quincy techniques, that their parents knew of. She learned the Hirenkyaku, the Ransotengai, and of the Sanrei Glove. They lacked the artifact to teach her beyond just what it did, but it was out of her hands. But it was enough for her, and they had their own small little graduation ceremony for her.
"Thank you guys, so much...I've learned so much," she blushed, remembering how everything started.
She was a much more naive girl back then, wanting to stay in the innocent sunlight. But now she had retreated to the shade, and learned the tools of the trade.
"Kaya, we are so proud of you. We know you'll be an amazing Quincy hunter," her father hugged her, and went to go grab her bags.
Her mother, in tears, grappled her into an intense embrace. Even Kaya began tearing up in the corner of her eyes as she held her mother as close as possible to her.
"I love you so much," she blubbered through her tears.
"I love you too, Mom, I'll make you proud!" she sobbed to her, and had her father rip her from her mother.
He understood that someone had to get in between them, or else they'd both lose heart and not want her to go. Saving money for her since she was born, they had accumulated around nine hundred thousand dollars for her to begin her life as an adult.
She would only be across the country, moving from their quiet little town to the more populated city of Karakura. She was needed there, though, and that's where she was going to put her skills to use.
She bought a house, and now lives in Karakura Town. Nightly she can be seen running from house to house, patrolling for any and all hollow that she could possibly find. Within a matter of time, though, she was approached by members of the Vandenreich. She was initially skeptical, but eventually she was won over by them.
Within the organization, it was discovered that she has a unique ability. She presented her ability to the King Juha Bach, and also fought with another Vandenreich member who couldn't reach her because of her barrier technique. They accepted her into the leagues of the Stern Ritter, and bestowed upon her the letter "B" for barrier.
Arsenal
Quincy Bow
Name: N/A
Cross Appearance: ryuseimaru.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps#/d5pxqxs
Spirit Weapon: When she focuses her energy through her Quincy cross it becomes a beautiful purple longsword made of energy. The blade is about a foot and a half long, thick toward the guard while thinner toward the top. The guard is simple and takes the appearance of two wings that would wrap snugly around her hand. By slashing in front of her she can initiate the firing of arrows via Heilig Pfeil. Four exact copies of the sword trail behind the first.
Quincy Items
Name: Bankai Sealing Medallion
Details/Quantity: Given to her by Juha Bach, she only has one and can only use it once but it will seal a Bankai for 24 hours. She usually keeps it in her Vandenreich cloak pocket.
Quincy Abilities
Name: Blut Vene (静血装 (ブルート・ヴェーネ), burūto vēne; German for "Blood Vein", Japanese for "Stilled Blood Guise")
Type: Defensive
Cost:5B
Details: The defensive form of Blut that grants the user inhuman durability, represented by a faint pattern tracing the veins beneath the surface of their skin, which is only visible on the afflicted area when struck. If consciously kept at full power, even attacks delivered by a Shinigami's Bankai can potentially be negated completely. However, despite the considerable defense afforded by this technique, it seemingly isn't absolute and can be torn using sufficient power.
Name: Ransōtengai (乱装天傀; lit. "heavenly wild puppet suit", "disheveled paradise puppet" in the Viz translation)
Type: Supplementary
Cost:5B
Details: Ransōtengai is a high level technique that allows the user to control their body parts using strings of spirit energy controlled by their brain, forming lines or strings out of reishi. Using this technique, the Quincy can control their body like a marionette, allowing them to move freely despite paralysis, broken limbs or any other force that would impede normal movement.
Name: Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger (聖唱: 聖域礼賛 (キルヒエンリート: ザンクト・ツヴィンガー), Kiruhienrīto: Zankuto Tsuvingā; German for "Church Hymn: Saint Ward", Japanese for "Holy Chant: Sanctuary Veneration")
Type: Defensive
Cost: 6B
Details: This technique is the single greatest protective magic of Quincy offense and defense. By generating a number of roman numeral-inscribed constructs from the fingers of an outstretched hand, several towering columns of reishi shaped like the Quincy Cross, erupt upwards in a circular formation around the practitioner. Anyone who steps foot within the confines of this area, will be immediately rent asunder where they stand by the "light of God".

Her eyes appear to have changed drastically, into black and white stripes all the way across.
Vollständig Abilities:
Name: The Barrier (Improved)
Type: Defensive
Cost: 7A

Name: Der Zorn Gottes (lit. The Wrath of God)
Type: Offensive
Cost: 7A
Details: Her five spiritual swords will glow a glorious green color, before slowly being deteriorated. Each sword will create 1,000 needles. In total there will be 5,000 needles that, with a snap of her fingers, will rain down upon her adversaries. However, there is a unique function to these needles. They won't disappear after they hit concrete, or land into the opponent. They stay as long as her Vollständig is active. It may not seem like much of a big deal, but try to fight without being distracted by pain. Or trying to rip out the five inch long needles without getting attacked in some way or form.
