Types of Zanpakuto
Sealed Zanpakuto
Traditional: This is your sealed Zanpakuto, a single sword that will more than likely resemble some sort of japanese sword of some kind. It can be something other than Japanese if you must insist , but I would prefer to see something Japanese since the sealed form isn't supposed to reflect you in any way, the Shikai and Bankai accomplish that. The sealed Zanpakuto is a simple, even realistic weapon that allows the Shinigami to learn the art of killing at it's most basic principles.
Dual Zanpakuto: Your sealed Zanpakuto can have dual swords. However, this is only allowed once for each member, as we don't need a site filled with Ukitake or Shunsui wanna-be's. This also should have a reason or concept behind having two swords, as it is an abnormality among the Shinigami as a whole. It isn't a must, but it would add some flavor other than just wanting to have two swords. You can have one or two Zanpakuto spirits, even with two sealed Zanpakuto.
Try to come up with something , even if it's cheesy or generic, after all people still buy generic groceries. Maybe you yourself have a conflicting personality, and your Zanpakuto spirit(s) does too. Maybe then you could base the abilities of each Zanpakuto off of two different personality traits or interests. Really anything could suffice, something as simple as your love for water, and hate for fire.
With a dual sword Zanpakuto in its sealed form, you do not HAVE to make your Shikai dual-wielded, or even your Bankai, but you waste the fact you have a dual Zanpakuto by doing so, as you only get one per account. NO double-accounting!
Shikai
Traditional: Zanpakuto have been shown to take on a base concept, which can vary on a person-to-person basis. Most take on something basic, like a paralysis agent, an element such as fire or ice, and even something like doubling the weight of anything it strikes. These all have a concept behind their powers, and so your Zanpakuto must also follow a concept. If your Zanpakuto is supposed to have multiple concepts, then your Zanpakuto would likely need some sort of split personality disorder, or maybe an obsession with all of the main elements to do something like that. Essentially it needs to make sense. Try to make sure you're happy with them though, wouldn't want to have wasted any effort. This is about you having fun~
Constant Release: This refers to Ichigo when his own Zanpakuto was awakened, instead of the temporary Zanpakuto Ichigo attained when turned into a Sub-Shini by Rukia Kuchiki. The large blade that was wrapped in bandages, THAT is a constant release. Your Reiryoku amounts are literally so vast that your ability to control your Zanpakuto and seal it is rendered useless.
However there are several things to note about a Shinigami with a constant release. Your skills of controlling your Reiryoku are limited, and things like Kido are simply much harder for you to maintain. This is because your Reiryoku is too massive and volatile for you to do anything with except makes large blasts of some sort. It may be much more generic, but it's still a powerful means to attack.
Besides that, the Shinigami with a constant release finds themselves at an advantage physically and spiritually. Their Reiryoku is massive, which means the pressure their Reiatsu exerts is that much more powerful, in-turn making up for your lack of stabiltiy and control over using Reiryoku and Kido precisely. Even your strength and speed are increased to an extent, making you much more over-powering. That is the idea behind a constant release, over-powering. It's strength is meant to be difficult to use and protect yourself against, but with proper training you become a lethal asset.
Bankai:
Traditional: Normally your Bankai grows in size, reflecting the idea that you have the Reiryoku to maintain a Taichou-class Zanpakuto release, as well as the discipline to control it. This increase in size is also an increase in strength, seeing as Bankai is the pinnacle of a Shinigami and their Zanpakuto. They come in many different sizes and shapes, some covering an area with a barrier, and others sprouting wings from your back to make you fly. This is the true release of your Zanpakuto, and should reflect many things about your Zanpakuto spirit, and thus you as well.
The transformation into your Bankai can be fast or slow, but remember there is always some sort of "WTF BOOM" event where Reiryoku, or energy otherwise engulfs their body and sends them into their transcended state; Their Bankai.
Remember, you need to have a release phrase, even if it's just "Bankai".
As for the concept or type of your Bankai, it would delve into a deeper meaning of the reason you fight, or the way you fight. There is a purpose in your Zanpakuto, and achieving your Bankai in-general would mean you found that purpose, the one you will lift your blade to meet the edge of the enemy, for the simple or complex reason that you have. This follows the general theme or layout for your Shikai, so if your Shikai was an ice type, this would have something to do with winter, freezing temperatures, or something along those lines.
Compressed: Let it be known that when you are doing the trial for a Compressed Bankai, much more will be expected of you. If you are confident in your skills, this is what you will be looking forward too. A traditional Bankai is just as powerful in all aspects except the extra buff.
This is a rare version of Bankai that have only been seen on the rarest of ocassions in Seireitei, even Yamamoto Genryuusei admitting he had not seen one in ages, inquisitive of the human boy Ichigo who wielded it. This is quite literally the compression of ALL the Reiatsu and Reiryoku your Bankai would normally expand upon release. It condenses the energy into your Zanpakuto and even you, making your very being equivalent to any other Bankai, in fact even more so.
This gives the user a special enhancement, allowing them much more power than a normal Bankai. This does not mean a normal Bankai is easily bested by a Compressed Bankai, it is merely speculation that a Compressed Bankai is more powerful. due to it's rarity and specific uses. Regardless, all Bankai give the user much more power than before, making them deadly warriors, or friends.
Zanpakuto Buffs
Here on BFT, I have decided to make different ways a Constant Release & Compressed Bankai can increase your stats, so that you all don't have the same exact thing, and gives us some diversity even if we all make Constant Release Shikai's or Compressed Bankai's.
Here are the options:
Constant Release Shikai:
IMPORTANT NOTE: No matter what you pick, a Constant Release scrambles the Reiatsu-sensing of your opponents if they are equal ranked or lower, even someone a rank higher having some amount of difficulty keeping a tab on your Reiatsu location.
Option 1, Overwhelming Strength: This counts as a x2 strength buff.
This buff improves physical strength to that of a person a rank above you.
Option 2, Overwhelming Speed: This counts as a x2 speed buff.
This buff improves physical speed to that of a person a rank above you.
Option 3, Overwhelming Spirit: This counts as a x2 Reiatsu buff.
This buff improves Reiatsu to that of a person a rank above you. This works for sensing, controlling, and resisting Reiatsu(s).
Compressed Bankai:
IMPORTANT NOTE: No matter what you pick, a Compressed Bankai scrambles the Reiatsu-sensing of your opponents if they are equal ranked or lower, even someone a rank higher having some amount of difficulty keeping a tab on your Reiatsu location.
Option 1, Compressing Strength: This counts as a x3 strength buff.
This increases your strength enough to overpower someone a rank above you, a person two ranks above you slightly faster. Your swings are not to be taken lightly, rendering the foundation of buildings to rubble.
Option 2, Compressing Speed: This counts as a x3 speed buff.
This increases your speed enough to out-maneuver someone a rank above you,a person two ranks above you slightly stronger. Quick bursts of speed can be made to strike, or deflect barrages of Bala with your Zanpakuto, and even other foreign projectiles that would not overpower your swing in force.
Option 3, Compressing Balance: This counts as a x2 buff for two stats.
This gives two stats a boost to that of someone a rank above you, being their equal. Also, this allows the user to swing their blade whilst Reiryoku swells up along the edge of the Zanpakuto, moving in the direction it was swung at speeds relative from Bala - Cero speeds. Speed is determined by the power/cost of the Reiryoku allotted. These can vary in power from a 1A - Z power technique.
Option 4, Compressing Spirit: This counts as a x3 buff to reiatsu.
This buff improves your Reiatsu to overpower a person a rank above you,a person two ranks above you slightly better with Reiatsu. This works for sensing, controlling, and resisting Reiatsu(s). Any Reiatsu-based technique is now treated as if used by someone a rank higher than your current rank.
