Passives & Buffs Guide
Passives
Passives are techniques which have no cost, but hint at the main ability or concept of your release, or release equivalent. Most can end up being simple stat buffs of some kind, as you will see below. However, there are many things a passive can do if you are creative, and some people may think they need to be powerful. Because they lack a cost, it will be anything but strong, it will mainly hint at the main action of your Zanpakuto and it's intent to harm in a specific way. Because of their versatility, they will have to be graded on a case-by-case basis. If you show facts, reasoning, and support for the passive, maybe it can become rather useful.
Each time the weapon of your release hits something, it can have an added effect other than cutting, such as a heated state, or even acidic to the touch. Also, things like explosions can be caused upon impact. However for a passive with no cost, these explosions would likely only cause a minor amount of damage.
However, you CAN add a small, constant cost for each post your passive is active. If you want, you can even make the passive optional, so that you don't always have to pay it for each individual post. YES, if kept constant the cost will be deducted even on your opponent's post, since it is still a post and furthers the timeline.
Adding a cost for each post will allow you do increase the effects of this passive equivalent to what the cost is worth.
Stat Buffs
This essentially covers any sort of stat buff, be it a physical stat such as speed or strength, or maybe even mental capability. As long as you find a way for the stat buff to make sense, and make sure that it isn't going to make you godly. Most buffs are measured by a multiplier, and the first release you unlock will likely only suffice for a x2 stat increase. Don't fret, as this essentially gives you that sat as if you were one rank higher. For things that are not measured by rank, I will try to explain in the Custom Buffs section of how you would approach it.
As for base stat buffs such as strength in speed, here are some examples.
1.A x2 speed buff will make you move as if you were 1 rank higher. This means your kicking, punching, and dodging is twice as fast, equivalent to someone one rank above you. However, this does NOT effect Shunpo techniques, as they are already very fast as is. This also halves your reaction time due to the doubled speed.
2.A x2 strength buff will make you hit as if you were 1 rank higher. This means your kicking, punching, and sword swings are twice as strong, equivalent to someone one rank above you. This even makes blocking better, due to the amount of force you can resist with your strength being doubled.
3.A x2 Reiatsu buff will make your Reiatsu capabilities equivalent to someone one rank higher than you. This means their Reiatsu can not crush you or even press on you without an applied cost. Your abilities to sense Reiatsu increase, and even the effects of your Reiatsu increase. Hiding your Reiatsu beacon is much easier, along with utilizing your Reiatsu as a part of your arsenal.Custom Buffs
For increasing mental capabilities, you could put down a x2 multiplier. This would NOT increase your mental capacity, merely the time it takes you to think, analyze, and adjust yourself to make a reaction. It would also allow you to find out the way an opponent's abilities work much faster, making it easier on yourself depending on what it is. By technicality this will also halve your reaction time similar to the speed buff, because your brain will essentially be responding twice as quickly than before, and your brain controls bodily functions. However this does not increase your speed, merely the time it takes to react.
More likely than not, applying a x2 will make it easier to understand the buff, making you just as good in that aspect to someone one rank higher than you.
However, things such as Hakuda or Swordplay can NOT be buffed skill-wise, since there is no real way to improve your knowledge and tactics of fighting, merely the traits you have while using them. However, by increasing something such as your mental capabilities, noticing openings and ways to counter or dodge would become more apparent and second-nature to your mind and thought process.
Enhanced Buffs
[/blockquote]Enhanced Buffs cover releases which are a cut above the rest. This refers to things such as a Compressed Bankai for Shinigami, Segunda Etapa for Arrancar, Vollstandig for Quincy, and Merging for Bount. These are releases which take an astounding amount of work and effort into obtaining, and should not be taken lightly. As such, their buffs can reach that of a x3 multiplier.
This x3 makes that stat BETTER than someone 1 rank above them in that stat, and someone 2 ranks above them would still recognize their large difference in strength upon the release.
However, making a custom buffs for these will unfortunately be graded much more harshly than other buffs. Why? Because multiplying something x3 is a very large increase, and to some degree may give an unfair advantage. Please try to be reasonable and fair, even though this IS your strongest release, and shows just how much work you put into getting this strong.
However, if you do something that makes sense, or explain how it works logically instead of just slapping on the increase, the grading will be more lenient.
MODIFICATIONS WILL BE MADE AS NEEDED OR SEEN FIT! I hope this helps~
